Meeting was called to order by Co-Chairman Bill Bowersock at 6:05pm

Minutes: Motion to approve Minutes of the March 13^th Meeting

Treasurer’s Report: Kathy Halbardier presented a balance in savings of $2668.06 (as of March). Checking balance is $1103.39, which includes $300 to 99.1 FM Talk Radio for the Candy Dance remote, $260 to the Chamber for our booth at the Business Showcase, and $110 to the Chamber for our annual member dues; and $1120 total deposits for new member dues.

Correspondence: No current correspondence to report.

Town Report: Lisa Granahan reported that the church repairs are underway for the water damage which occurred in January, and they are due to complete around May 24^th. Both the church and the park are going to be connected to county sewer, and that work begins tomorrow. Summer concert series begins on Sunday, June 17^th, which is Father’s Day. The other dates are: July 8, August 19, and September 16. Jennifer Hollister is currently working on developing a new website for the town. Candy Dance plans are going well - they are looking for a co-chair for candy making and also a chair for merchandising. The Orchard House will hold the dinner dance again this year, and they are evaluating both music and menu options now. The Annual Road maintenance planning is on the June agenda for the town meeting.

Old Business Updates:

Brochures Sue asked for a final decision to be made to approve the latest draft for the new town brochure, which was passed around. A dew changes were discussed the group, which they will address in their committee. It looks fantastic!

Platform in the Park Bill Bowersock reported Roger Falcke has been working with the county on permits, etc. Everything should be submitted this week. The next step is a formal solicitation of materials for the project - Tom Peters commented that he is working on a letter to take out to businesses for this. Sue Knight suggested a list of materials needed be distributed so that others can donate where possible. This project will be on the June GTAB meeting.

Gazebo Tom Peters reported that he and Lisa Granahan have been working the issues in terms of where the gazebo should & can be located. The group agreed that the best location is in front of the town office, so it will be put onto the June GTAB meeting for approval. Bill Bowersock will create a letter for formal submission to the GTAB. The group is confident that there will be no problem staffing the gazebo, and the plan is to mirror the museum hours/timeframe as much as possible.

MAGIKO Lisa Voss, from the CV Visitor’s Authority, presented the plans for MAGIKO in the Carson Valley. There is a 2 week "shop-around" planned in which local retailers are being asked to participate. When a customer visit’s the shops, they will be getting a special stamp on a punch card which will be entered into a raffle. Web-Site There has not been any work done on a new website for the GGBA, so the group agreed instead to have Keith get our current website up-to-date with new info & new members. The site can be seen anytime at www.genoanv.com. Motion to rescind the approval for $250 for a new website to be developed by Jennifer Hollister.

GGBA Membership We are doing great with membership this year, dues are at $1120 for 28 members. There still are a lot of businesses and residents who have not joined, so we all stressed the importance of getting them the GGBA Member Dues form.

New Business:

Letter Boxing Lynne Bowersock presented the concept of Letter Boxing (for more info, visit: www.letterboxing.org). Lynne would like the GGBA to sponsor a site in Genoa, and she is willing to help do the necessary work to get it in place. Motion to approve the GGBA sponsorship of this.

CPR Lynne Bowersock presented the idea of the GGBA sponsoring a CPR class as a community project - everyone overwhelming agreed that it would be a great idea. Sue Knight volunteered to contact the Red Cross for more info, and we also have an offer from Pete Levy, who is a paramedic for East Fork and instructs these classes regularly.

"Business of the Month": Penny Speir was on-hand to discuss her business, Chefalicious. Penny is a personal & private chef with more than 35 years experience in cooking. She has lived in 5 different countries, so has experience with many types of foods, and is also a member of a Personal Chef Network. She is fully insured and federally certified as a food handler. Her business is mainly comprised of finding her own clients, then conducting an interview with them on tastes and any health concerns, and then cooking for them for up to a week at a time. She also does catering for many different sized functions. She loves what she does, and is passionate about the quality of her food. For more info, visit her on the web at: www.chefalicious.com.

Note: Diana & Dwight Borges will be on the agenda for the March meeting to discuss their business, Borges Carriages.

Any other business:

Ron Funk came to discuss Pops in the Park for this year, and asked that the GGBA buy into a ½-page ad for the event at a cost of $300. The group agreed that due to a tight budget, we would have to find another way to sponsor an ad for this and Kathi Diehl volunteered to go to local businesses to see if she could get enough people to share the cost.
Rick Halbardier presented an opportunity for anyone interested in participating in an ad which is going into a local brochure to drive tourism into the valley from a company he has worked with at Tahoe Ridge. Those interested discuss the opportunity directly with Rick.

Sue reported that the Reno Tahoe Territories meeting will be on May 10, and that there is a Chamber luncheon on May 16.
